First Baptist Church in Chandler’s annual pool party ended in tragedy when a 4-year-old boy died after drowning at the Hamilton Aquatic Center, apparently the first such fatal incident in a city pool.
Chandler Police responded to a call at 8:11 p.m. June 29.
“Just after 8 p.m. a 4-year-old boy was found unresponsive in the pool after an undetermined amount of time,” said Ryan Cody, the public information officer for Chandler Police. “Lifeguards and first responders performed lifesaving measures on scene and while in transit to Chandler Regional Hospital, where the child was later pronounced deceased.”…
