Tempe police crack down on street racing, leading to dozens of arrests

TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) β€” The Tempe Police Department made hundreds of stops and dozens of arrests in a street racing crackdown over two weeks. Authorities say groups of people drive recklessly, and it often escalates into violence.

Tempe police say the groups plan large gatherings on social media. They often race in areas like the Mill Avenue bridge over Tempe Town Lake, Rio Salado Parkway, Hardy Drive, and in parking lots near those areas.
