Extreme Heat Warnings for the Valley before storms arrive in Arizona

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Extreme Heat Warnings remain in effect for metro Phoenix through Tuesday for high temperatures in the range of 110-112 degrees. First Alert Weather Days have also been declared.

The upper-level weather pattern remains strange for the middle of August. We have yet to see a classic monsoon flow form this year impacting the Valley. And if we get any rain later this week, it will be in an unconventional way.

A trough of low pressure pushing down from the Pacific Northwest will help lift some moisture into Arizona late week and increase the chances for storms, especially in the mountains. The low is not standard fare for the monsoon…
