Chandler Domestic Abuser Sentenced to 25 Years After Violent Standoff with Police

In a recent turn of events, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office has released information on a substantial sentencing handed down to Cody Long, born in February 1992, following a violent confrontation with police and a severe domestic abuse incident. As reported by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, Long has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after his guilty plea on multiple felony charges, including two counts of aggravated assault and misconduct involving weapons.

Details of the case reveal a disturbing scenario that unfolded back in March 2024 at a Chandler hotel, where the staff alerted the police to a domestic disturbance the victim who had been held captive by Long managed to flee and alert authorities, after she had been assaulted, her means of communication snatched from her and subsequently bound to prevent her attempted escape, Long then engaged in a violent standoff with responding officers, firing a handgun resulting in an exchange of gunfire that ended with Long being struck and then taken into custody for the crimes for which he has now been sentenced.

County Attorney Rachel Mitchell conveyed her stance on the importance of supporting survivors of domestic violence, saying, “Knowing her life was in danger, this domestic violence survivor dared to break free from a violent offender,” as per the statement provided by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.
