Young Bear Safely Rescued from Palm Tree in San Tan Valley Neighborhood

Residents of San Tan Valley saw a young black bear cub in their community last week. The cub was first seen several days ago and was not captured until Sunday. It was found near Arizona Farms and Felix Road. Deputies from the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, the Arizona Game & Fish Department, and fire crews from Rural Metro and Queen Creek responded. They used a ladder truck to reach the bear after it climbed a tall palm tree.

Officials tranquilized the cub and removed it from the tree. Wildlife managers later released the bear in northern Arizona. San Tan Valley residents often see animals such as horses and coyotes, but bear sightings are uncommon in the area…
