Authorities identify 3 people killed in fiery wrong-way crash in Mesa

MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — Troopers have identified the three people, including a wrong-way driver, killed in a fiery wreck on an East Valley freeway last month.

Just after 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 27, authorities say a 2019 Kia Sorrento was heading westbound in the eastbound lanes of the Loop 202 Red Mountain near McDowell Road. The Arizona Department of Public Safety says the wrong-way driver, identified as 25-year-old Matthew Viramontes, crashed into a 2003 Toyota Corolla Matrix, causing both vehicles to catch on fire.

The driver and a passenger inside the Corolla Matrix were killed in the wreck. Authorities identified the driver as Isaac Reed, and the passenger as Adrian Fajardo, both 18 years old…
