Baking is generational for Elizabeth Curtis.
She learned to make pies from her mother, who learned from her mother at her bedside.
Now, “after years of baking my whole life,” Curtis has opened her own bakery, specializing in homemade pies.
Tucked in a shopping center on the southwest corner of Gilbert and Southern, at 1356 S. Gilbert Road in Mesa, the Pied Piper Bakery is owned by Curtis and her husband Brian, both Arizona natives.
“I wanted to open up a shop,” Elizabeth said. “We noticed that there are a lot of cookie stores on every corner, but a lot of the pie shops have gone by the wayside…
