It began in 1938 as a simple Easter sunrise service with a few people and 88 years later, has evolved into the world’s largest outdoor celebration of the core of the Christian faith.
And on Wednesday, March 25, the Mesa Arizona Temple will again host what the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints calls “the powerful outdoor musical celebration of the Easter Story.”
“Jesus the Christ: The Mesa Easter Pageant” will be presented free of charge on the temple grounds, 525 E. Main St., Mesa, at 8 p.m. Wednesday through April 4 except on March 29 and 30.
The tradition draws nearly 100,000 attendees from diverse faiths every year – and its all-volunteer cast keeps growing, reaching an all-time high this year of nearly 500 men, women and children…
