Gilbert couple’s nonprofit addresses workforce gap

Starting as an electrical apprentice in Phoenix decades ago, Mike Greenawalt built a career that eventually led to owning multi-billion-dollar company.

Now, he and his wife, Dena, are investing in developing the next generation of skilled trades workers through their Greenawalt Foundation.

This year, the foundation plans to distribute $200,000 in scholarships for high school seniors entering skilled trades programs, as well as grants for apprenticeship programs and community nonprofits…
