Pat’s Run likely to draw thousands Saturday

One of Arizona’s largest athletic events returns to Tempe next week as nearly 30,000 runners and walkers are expected to take part in the 22nd annual Pat’s Run.

The April 11 run, held on the Arizona State University campus, honors the legacy of Pat Tillman while raising funds to support military veterans, service members and spouses through the Tillman Scholar program.

Tillman, an Arizona State University football star, left a $3.6 million career with the Arizona Cardinals to enlist in the U.S. Army following the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks. He served as an Army Ranger in Iraq and Afghanistan before dying by friendly fire in Afghanistan in 2004…
