Reacting quickly to widespread backlash, the Gilbert Public Schools Governing board on May 7 unanimously approved the 2-2-2 calendar schedules for 2027-28 through 2029-30 – a week after it had voted to delay a decision to study a different format.
The Board had voted 3-2 on April 28 to table action on the calendars until June to explore the possibility of splitting the two-week fall break into two separate weeks, one being Thanksgiving week.
