Phoenix Man Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison for Dealing Fentanyl and Methamphetamine

PHOENIX – Attorney General Kris Mayes announced today that Eduardo Cruz was sentenced to five years in prison, followed by three years of probation, for trafficking fentanyl and methamphetamine in the Phoenix area.

The sentencing occurred in Maricopa County Superior Court following Cruz’s guilty plea to multiple charges, including Conspiracy to Sell a Narcotic Drug, Attempt to Possess Dangerous Drug for Sale, and Illegally Conducting an Enterprise.

In February and March 2024, Cruz sold large quantities of drugs. On February 14, 2024, he sold approximately 10,000 fentanyl pills weighing 2.4 pounds. Later, on March 27, 2024, Cruz attempted to sell 7.05 pounds of methamphetamine.

After an investigation led by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, Cruz was arrested and charged.

Methamphetamine remains a primary drug threat in Arizona, according to the National Drug Intelligence Center (NDIC).

The state has seen an increase in the availability of crystal methamphetamine, which is often produced in Mexico and trafficked across the border, the NDIC says.
