Valley district refuses to sign ‘DEI’ attestation from the government

TOLLESON, Ariz. — Leaders of the Tolleson Union High School District are choosing not to sign an attestation that they don’t engage in “illegal DEI practices.”

The district’s board voted Wednesday to allow Superintendent Jeremy Calles the discretion to sign the attestation from the U.S. Department of Education. Wednesday’s meeting ended with Calles tearing up a piece of paper and stating he could not sign it.

“I know what we value,” the superintendent said. “I have grown up with diversity, equity and inclusion being a good thing.”…
