Animals being treated for malnutrition, injuries after being seized from Surprise property

PHOENIX — Dozens of animals were seized from a property in Surprise on Thursday due to “deplorable conditions,” according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

The animals included 38 chickens, nine cats, six ducks and one horse. The animals are now being treated for malnutrition and injuries at the MASH unit, the sheriff’s office said.
