Bee Attack Kills Arizona Roofer, Injures Two

On July 7, 2025, three roofers were working on a senior living facility in Scottsdale, Arizona, when they accidentally disturbed an Africanized bee colony hidden in a valve box near the roof. Without warning, the bees launched a massive attack, stinging all three men repeatedly.

One Life Lost, Others Hospitalized

One of the men, 65‑year‑old Nicolas Lopez Soto, was stung “numerous times,” including through his clothing. He later died at the hospital. The other two were also hospitalized and remain in stable condition. Investigators believe the colony was highly agitated, likely due to extreme heat and limited food sources, making them fiercely defensive.
