Arizona Attorney General Investigates Death of Elderly Woman at Avondale Assisted Living Facility Amid Heat Concerns

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office is investigating the death of 75-year-old Linda Hughes, who was found unresponsive at the Silver Birch of Avondale assisted living facility. The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet determined the cause of death, but authorities said Hughes was exposed to temperatures that reached 102 degrees that day, according to ABC15.

On July 21, police found Hughes after he reportedly entered a ramada from a door inside the facility and may have been outside for up to two hours. Silver Birch of Avondale released a statement saying, “We are deeply saddened by the death of one of our beloved residents at Silver Birch of Avondale. Out of respect for the privacy of the individual and their family, we are unable to share any additional details at this time,” as reported by AZFamily…
