Scottsdale Police target homeless camps, panhandling

The Maricopa Association of Governments leads an annual, county-wide “Point in Time” count during one night each January.

The goal is to approximate as closely as possible the homeless population in each of the Valley’s cities.

This year, volunteers and city staff counted 105 unsheltered people in Scottsdale. That was more or less normal, as the city’s average “Point in Time” count has been around 82, with a high of 114 in 2022 and low of 67 in 2017…
