A mother and father have pleaded guilty to child abuse charges after their 5-month-old baby died of malnutrition, which prosecutors tied to an extreme diet the parents were following.
Phoenix police arrested Tremaure Stanley and Janiece Brooks in July 2023 after their youngest child was found dead and their three other children, ages 2, 4 and 5 at the time, were severely malnourished, authorities said.
