Peoria woman gets surprise $15K hospital bill after insurance contract expires

PEORIA, AZ (AZFamily) — A Peoria woman received a $15,000 surprise medical bill after her insurance company’s contract with a Valley hospital expired one day before her scheduled surgery.

Terri Griffin needed reconstructive surgery on her nose after having skin cancer removed. The procedure left a large hole that required a series of three operations to repair.
