Glendale Announces Service Adjustments for Martin Luther King Jr. Day With Trash Pickup Continuing and Select City Services on Break

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 19, city officials confirmed that Glendale will scale back on certain services while maintaining others for the community. As reported by the city’s official announcement, trash pickup and recycling services will remain on their regular schedule, although the city’s landfill is set to be closed to the public on the holiday.

For transportation, Glendale OnBoard microtransit services will continue to operate, but riders are advised to pre-schedule online reservations by noon on January 16, and on the day itself, only GUS Bus 1 will be running its route from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. while GUS Bus 2 and 3 services will be suspended, and for those reliant on paratransit and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) transportation services, they can rest assured as these will not experience interruptions, according to the City of Glendale’s statement.

The city’s libraries, public centers, and community-focused services such as Rose Lane Community Center, O’Neil Community Center, and the REC on Wheels program will pause for the day.
