Fired Glendale police officer sues for his job back, asks for back pay

Glendale fired a police officer after officials determined incidents involving him were a pattern that had become a safety risk. Now the officer is demanding his job back.

Court records say former Glendale police Officer Juan Gonzales was fired for fatally shooting Dillon Siebeck as authorities were looking for a domestic violence suspect who had committed suicide.

Gonzales appealed and Glendale’s personnel board determined he should get his job back. But the city manager said no, citing the killing of Siebeck as out of policy, and a 2022 incident in which Gonzales failed to properly handle, display and use his firearm…
