PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Maricopa County Sheriff Jerry Sheridan released a social media video Saturday clarifying his position on federal immigration enforcement after comments earlier this week made headlines.
In a Wednesday interview with KTAR News, Sheridan said he would take action against ICE agents if he observed them acting illegally, stating he had previously jailed other law enforcement officers, including his own nephew.
“That is my duty as your elected sheriff,” Sheridan said when asked if he would act against ICE agents operating out of line. “I don’t care. If they’re doing something that is illegal, unlawful, the sheriff will be there.”
