Two years ago, Hollie Tolmachoff bought her home in the mismatched outskirts of the West Valley, where fields of cattle and orange groves butt up against new shopping plazas.
She calls it her rural oasis and it has a place for everything: her “Taj Mahal” chicken coop, her garden of cucumbers and beets, a 1970s merry-go-round. When she moved in she imagined spending the next 20 years of her life raising her four kids there.
”This is like our little slice of heaven,” she said. “This spot, right here.” But lately, she wonders if they’ll have to leave it all behind…
