Eastbound drivers on Interstate 10 near Avondale hit more than just the usual traffic on Friday when troopers with the Arizona Department of Public Safety launched an investigation into a reported shooting near milepost 131.

Troopers responded to a “shots fired” call in the eastbound lanes and quickly pushed into the surrounding area. A vehicle near 107th Avenue and Van Buren Street was wrapped in police tape as part of the investigation, while officers worked around a nearby residential complex. Aerial footage from the station’s Sky12 helicopter showed troopers canvassing the area and talking with people nearby, according to 12News.
