PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man is jailed after police say he ran a red light while impaired and struck a Phoenix Fire Department vehicle.
Around 1:20 a.m., Phoenix police responded to the area of 7th Street and Northern Avenue for reports of a crash involving a passenger vehicle and one of the fire department’s ladder tender trucks. No one was hurt.
Investigators believe the driver of the passenger vehicle, identified as 35-year-old Luis Enrique Barron Ruiz, ran a red light before crashing into the driver’s side of the fire truck. Video from the scene showed heavy front-end damage to a small SUV and minimal damage along the side of the large truck.
Police say Ruiz showed signs of impairment and had a substance believed to be methamphetamine. He was later booked into jail on DUI and drug-related charges…
