Yelp just released “Your ultimate seafood guide to the freshest catch in every state,” and their choice for Arizona was … wait for it … Just Tacos and More. Did you just do a double-take? Well, so did I.
I usually report on Phoenix restaurants that receive national attention, and sometimes, that includes Yelp’s Best. While recently Yelp has chosen valid spots for Arizona — I’m referring to their best tamale and soul food — there have been times, including this one, that the choice leaves me slack-jawed.
Though they describe their methodology, I’m beginning to wonder if AI is writing this stuff without questioning the results. If a human were writing it, then how, pray tell, would a taco shop be named the best spot for seafood? Certainly a human would use the power of deduction to replace the choice spat out by a computer, or better yet, tweak the methodology after the first time strange results popped up…
