SURPRISE, AZ (AZFamily) — A landfill fire in Surprise has been contained after burning for two days, and mop-up efforts are now underway at the privately-owned facility.
The fire broke out around 7 a.m. Friday at WM’s Northwest Regional Landfill near 195th Avenue and Deer Valley Road in Surprise.
Multiple agencies helped battle the blaze and were able to keep it contained to the landfill property, preventing it from spreading to nearby homes or businesses.
