Former juvenile lifer sentenced to prison again for daylong crime spree

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – A former juvenile lifer who was once serving life without parole for his role in a 1996 murder is headed back to prison on charges from a daylong crime-spree.

Cody Jerome Skaggs, 46, was flooded with emotions in the moments before he was sentenced Wednesday, May 27, in Kent County Circuit Court.

“Your honor I’ve made some bad decisions in life,” Skaggs, who was tearful at times, read from a prepared letter. “That is not hard for me to admit. What has been hard for me to do is to admit when I need help.”…
