Grand Rapids board backs $5.5M townhome development plan

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — A proposal to build 20 townhomes across three Grand Rapids properties is moving forward after a city board approved a developer’s request for $1.3 million in tax incentives.

The Grand Rapids Brownfield Redevelopment Authority on Wednesday unanimously approved the request from Ricky Labra of Slick Investments. The project would span sites at 111 Barnett St. NE, 830 Fourth St. NW and 838 Butterworth Ave. SW, with a total estimated cost of $5.5 million.

The incentive package now heads to the Grand Rapids City Commission for final approval. The date on which the commission is expected to consider the request was not immediately available Wednesday…
