GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Days before the Meijer LPGA Classic begins, a food pantry in Northeast Grand Rapids is crediting the grocery chain’s Simply Give program with helping to keep its shelves stocked.
“Without them, we could do very little,” said Laura Castle, executive director of North End Community Ministry, an emergency food pantry located on Spencer Street and Plainfield Avenue inside New City Church.

The pantry has been around for 55 years, serving more than 750 people — “some of the most impoverished people in North East Grand Rapids,” according to Castle.
“The people that we serve on the Northeast Side have a lot more month left at the end of the money and that’s why our Client-Choice Food Pantry is made available to people to provide nourishing food, a good variety of foods to help their families,” Castle said…
