Grand Rapids mulls incentives for new industrial facility, townhomes

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids officials are considering tax incentives for two projects: one that would add 20 townhomes and another that would build a nearly 100,000-square-foot industrial facility.

Having already received preliminary approval from the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, public hearings on each topic have been scheduled for July.

TOWNHOMES PLANNED FOR THREE SITES

One proposal would add townhomes at three separate sites around the city: 111 Barnett St. NE south of Leonard Street, 830 Fourth St. NW near Stocking Avenue and 838 Butterworth St. SW near Straight Avenue. The Barnett Street site currently has a vacant house, while the other sites sit empty, according to officials.
