Air quality alert for several West Michigan counties Wednesday

WEST MICHIGAN — An Air Quality Alert was issued for several West Michigan counties for Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

The alert was issued for Muskegon, Ottawa, Allegan, Van Buren, Berrien, Cass, Kent and Barry counties, according to state health officials.

Sunny, warm conditions and a light southwest wind bring a threat of ozone development near the ground, particularly in the lakeshore counties, according to the alert from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE).
