Packaging company buys Howard Miller manufacturing facility

ZEELAND, Mich. (WOOD) — A West Michigan packaging company is expanding to Zeeland with the purchase of a former Howard Miller site.

Holland-based Coastal Container announced in a social media post that it had acquired the former Howard Miller clock manufacturing facility. Crain’s Grand Rapids Business was first to report the news.

Property records show that the 20-acre site at 860 E. Main Ave. near Chicago Drive was sold Thursday to TKP Investments — which, like Coastal Container, is an operating company of Coastal Group. The sale price was just over $15.9 million.

Coastal Container, which is headquartered at 1201 Industrial Ave. in Holland, says the Zeeland facility will house its secondary operations, assembly, warehousing and packaging supply division. It will also offer opportunities for future growth.
