HUDSONVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — Stir It Up, a bakery in Hudsonville that employs people with disabilities, is set to close.
As of this year, around 38% of working-age people (ages 16-64) with a disability were employed, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. That means nearly two-thirds were not working.
That gap prompted Zoe Bruyn to start Stir It Up Bakery in 2016, according to the bakery’s website. Stir It Up initially operated from a home kitchen but eventually moved into a kitchen at 3170 Chicago Drive near 32nd Avenue in Hudsonville.
