Grand Rapids Baila Music Fest returns

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Dancers in downtown Grand Rapids attempted to break the Guiness World Record for the largest bachata lesson Saturday.

The Baila Music Fest returned to Rosa Parks Circle, celebrating Latin-Caribbean music and dancing, but this time with an extra twist. The festival offered a free bachata lesson in an attempt to break the world record for the most pairs simultaneously dancing bachata.

Participating dancers said they enjoyed seeing the Grand Rapids dance community come together and enjoy moving and shaking on a Saturday afternoon.

“Grand Rapids has become like an embodiment of Spanish culture, so it’s wonderful to be here with all the different styles that we started dancing with bachata, salsa,” said Zunilda Flewellen…
