Charge dropped against man pulled from car by Grand Rapids police, breaking officer’s leg

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — A felony charge has been dropped against a man forcefully pulled out of a car in June by Grand Rapids police, causing an officer’s leg to break.

Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker on Friday, Sept. 4 said officers’ testimony during an August preliminary hearing prompted his decision.

Becker said that body camera video showed officers talking about making an arrest quota, although an officer testified at the August hearing the quota banter was just a joke…
