KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — An event in Kentwood this weekend will provide local high schoolers with formal clothes ahead of this year’s homecoming festivities.
The event will feature a variety of clothing, such as suits, ties, dresses and shoes that have been donated. Shannon Sample, the event’s organizer, said the idea stemmed from a previous event.
“I did a clothes drive about a month ago for the first time. And then after that was a huge success I wanted to do something else,” Sample said. “So I thought, why not get some dresses donated for homecoming? Because I know for one, they’re very expensive. And for those that can’t afford anything, I wanted to make sure that they were able to attend the dance and have fun. So this is where it basically all started.”…
