KENT COUNTY, MI — City of Walker residents will decide Nov. 3 whether to approve a 10-year public safety millage designed to expand police and fire services as the city’s population grows.
City officials report that demand for emergency services has increased alongside population growth, putting pressure on current staffing levels and infrastructure.
“Over the years, Walkers experienced growth that has brought increased demand for emergency services. Our fire department responds to more than twice as many calls as it did only a few years ago.
