Grand Rapids man accused of holding woman captive, torturing her for days before she escaped at Woodland Mall

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Grand Rapids man is accused of repeatedly assaulting and restraining his girlfriend over several days, including strangling her and pouring water over her face until she could not breathe.

Derrick Adams was taken into custody after the woman was able to get help and escape from him at the Woodland Mall on Sept. 18, according to a court affidavit.
