A woman says her boyfriend tortured her, held her against her will, and threatened to kill her. She escaped while they were at Woodland Mall, and he has since been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged crimes.

GR Man Arrested on Allegations of Torture, Death Threats

36-year-old Derrick Christopher Adams has been arrested and charged in Kent County, Michigan, for allegedly torturing his girlfriend in his home where he allegedly held her captive for two days. Police reported the girlfriend said Adams allegedly used a knife while he threatened to kill her. She went on to claim he beat her and used a waterboarding technique to torture her.

According to MLive, Adams allegedly became angry after the woman received a call from a family member and punched her. He then took her phone and, according to her account, continued hitting her whenever he found a contact in her phone he did not like.

After the alleged assault from Adams, he made his girlfriend get naked, then began to torture her with a waterboarding tactic. This happened multiple times during the night, causing her to be unable to breathe and eventually pass out.

Adams allegedly texted her family members pretending to be her and even missed work for two days so she could not leave the house.
