Grand Rapids donut shop introduces Lions-themed pastries

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A Grand Rapids donut shop is showing its Lions pride Friday.

Sandy’s Donuts, on Leonard Street NW near the Covell Avenue NW intersection, is selling donuts and pastries sporting the Honolulu Blue. Jada Heath, a manager at the shop, said the staff had been working overnight to prepare the pastries.

Heath said this is the first time the shop is making Lions-themed pastries. Sandy’s Donuts will sell them alongside their usual pastries on Friday and Saturday from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Heath recommended people order ahead for their Lion’s donuts to make sure they have enough prepared.

If the Detroit Lions win Sunday’s game, Sandy’s Donuts plans to go even bigger for the next game. Staff said they would make three times the amount they made on Friday and Saturday.
