WALKER, Mich. (WOOD) — Thousands of customers were without power in and near Walker Sunday afternoon due to a transformer issue, police said.
Power has since been restored to the area.
At 4:55 p.m., the Consumer’s Energy outage map showed just under 8,600 customers were without power in the state. Most of those affected are in the Walker area.
A ‘transformer issue’ was behind the outage, according to a Facebook post from Walker police. It reminded drivers to treat intersections as 4-way stops if the traffic signals are out.
A News 8 crew reported that multiple fire trucks were seen at the substation at Wilson Avenue NW and Waybury Avenue NW.
