Man hospitalized after being dumped into garbage truck

GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man is in the hospital after he got dumped into a garbage truck Friday morning, deputies say.

Around 5:20 a.m., deputies with the Kent County Sheriff’s Office were sent to 3 Mile Road NE near Dean Lake Avenue NE for a “pin in rescue.”

Responding deputies learned that a 70-year-old man had been sleeping in a dumpster when a garbage truck arrived to empty it, dumping the man into the garbage truck.

The driver realized the man was in the truck when he called for help.

The man was taken to the hospital with a possible broken leg, the sheriff’s office said.
