Michigan rejects contentious Saugatuck dunes marina permit

SAUGATUCK, MI – The state of Michigan has dealt a blow to controversial plans for developing a marina amid the sand dunes at the Kalamazoo River mouth. On Feb. 9, the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) rejected an application from Holland developers for a permit to build a 6.5-acre marina with 50 slips and 1,600-foot basin as part of a high-end housing project.
