GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — When it comes to quality of life, U.S. News & World Report says Grand Rapids is one of the best cities in the nation.
Grand Rapids was ranked 14th on the 2023-2024 list , with a quality of life index of 7.2, a value index of 7.5 and an overall score of 6.6.
“Grand Rapids has an affinity for public art, and its craft brewery scene is one of the best in the nation,” U.S. News & World Report contributor Anna Gustafson writes of the city . “…From the doctors and nurses working in the region’s booming health care industry to the strong LGBTQ community that hosts the much-feted annual Grand Rapids Pride event to the numerous artists and musicians, the region is home to people from all walks of life.”
The quality of life list is topped by another Michigan city: Ann Arbor, which has a quality of life index of 7.9. It’s followed by Boulder, Colorado and Madison, Wisconsin.
U.S. News & World Report says it calculates the quality of life index by taking into account crime rates, education quality, well-being, average commute time, availability and quality of health care, air quality and risk factors.
