KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — A driver hit a Kentwood police cruiser and took off hours before being found again and arrested, police say.
Shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday, officers spotted the suspect vehicle along Breton Road SE north of 32nd Street. They had been looking for the driver after a previous case of fleeing and eluding — though a Friday release from the Kentwood Police Department did not provide any details about the prior situation.
When the officers tried to pull the driver over Thursday night, he backed his car up into a cruiser and then took off, police say.
Police decided it was too dangerous to chase him.
A photo released by police Friday shows the cruiser sustained minor front-end damage.
But “several hours later,” police said, Wyoming officers found the car. Kentwood and Wyoming officers soon found the suspect in a nearby home, where he was arrested without any more trouble.
The suspect was jailed. His name was not released Friday and police did not list precisely what charges he was expected to face.
