House moved to clear way for senior living development

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Crews picked up a house in Grand Rapids Tuesday, moving it to make way for a new senior living development.

The two-story house at the corner of Hall Street SE and Lafayette Avenue SE was moved about a block west to Cass Avenue at Hall.

The house had to go to make space for a new affordable senior housing project called MoTown Square. The result of a partnership between Orion Construction, LINC Up, MoTown Square Development, the housing complex is expected to have 54 assisted living units for those 55 and older.

“This project underscores our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for seniors in Grand Rapids,” Orion President Brad Walsh said in a statement. “MoTown Square will not only provide comfortable housing but also foster a supportive environment that promotes independence and well-being.”
