Hudsonville woman gets jail time for ordering dog to attack man

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — An Ottawa County woman will spend time in jail for allegedly ordering her dog to attack a man this spring.

The Holland Sentinel reports that 37-year-old Augustina Villarreal was sentenced Tuesday to 75 days in the Ottawa County Jail and 12 months of probation.

A police report by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says the incident occurred in the early morning hours of May 25th at a home on Chestnut Court in Hudsonville. Villarreal and a man had gotten into an argument when she reportedly ordered the dog to attack.

The man was bitten several times in his arms before he was able to escape through a window. He was “covered in blood” by the time he arrived at a neighbor’s home asking for help. The victim was treated by paramedics and taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Villarreal was originally charged with felonious assault with a dangerous weapon, but the charge was eventually dropped to aggravated domestic violence, which is a misdemeanor. She pleaded no contest last month.
