Vacant Wealthy Street eyesore to be redeveloped for retail, housing

A Grand Rapids-based developer behind two boutique hotels in the city is renovating a long-vacant building between Meanwhile Bar and The Electric Cheetah on Wealthy Street. Bradley Veneklase, owner of Urban Soil Realty, bought the building at 1007 Wealthy St. SE in February of this year for $194,000 from House of Prayer Ministry, according to property records. The ministry last used the first floor of the building, which was built in 1884. It also had an upper floor apartment.
