To The Point: 83rd House District candidates

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — On this “To The Point,” the 83 rd House District is an interesting race, and we believe it’s the only one in the state that pits a current state representative against a former state representative.

You’ll hear from both of them, starting with incumbent, State Rep. John Fitzgerald, D-Wyoming.

“I would contest that my now 20 months in Lansing has been as impactful as anyone in servitude to Wyoming in Lansing over the last 25 years really recent memory,” he said.

Former Republican Representative Tommy Brann says he’s good at the job and calls himself an independent Republica.

“As a state representative my last year I called myself an independent Republican. In fact, at a Republican debate with a Republican audience, I actually got booed a couple of times because of my stances. So, I just don’t say I represent all my constituents, I do it,” he said.

All that and more on this “To The Point” episode for the weekend of Sept. 7.
